PitchPop Privacy Policy

Last updated September 29, 2026

PitchPop is an ear-training app for kids made by Marika Lam. It's designed to collect as little as possible: no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. This policy covers the PitchPop iPhone app and the website at marikalam.github.io/apps/pitchpop.

Using PitchPop without an account

You don't need an account to play. Without one, everything PitchPop saves stays on your device: player names, which colors each player is learning, scores, practice history and streaks. None of it is sent anywhere.

If you create an account

An account is optional and lets a family sync its players across devices. When you create one, we store:

Per-color scores are not uploaded; they stay on each device. We use this information only to sign you in and keep your players in sync. We never sell it, share it for advertising, or use it for anything else.

Accounts are stored with Supabase, our hosting provider, which also sends password-reset emails when you ask for one.

Children

PitchPop is made for kids to play, but accounts are meant to be created by a parent or guardian. A player profile only needs a first name or nickname. We don't knowingly collect other personal information from children, and kids don't need to enter any to play.

Speech and sounds

The voice that reads out color names is generated on your device. In the iPhone app, everything it needs is built in. On the website, the voice files are downloaded the first time from public file hosts (Hugging Face and jsDelivr), which, like any website, can see your IP address when your browser downloads from them. No text you type is sent to them.
