MathPop Privacy Policy
Last updated October 22, 2026
MathPop is a math practice app made by Marika Lam. It has no ads, no third-party analytics and no tracking. Kids can play without an account; a grown-up can optionally create a family account to keep players in sync across devices. This policy covers the MathPop iPhone app and the website at marikalam.github.io/apps/mathpop.
What MathPop saves
MathPop remembers a few things so it picks up where you left off: the grade you chose, your answer settings, and how many problems were answered and how many were right. Without an account, all of it stays on your device and none of it is sent to us or anyone else.
Anonymous usage counts
To learn how much MathPop is used and which games kids like, the app sends us a few anonymous counts: that it was opened (and whether that's the first time today, or the first time ever, on that device), and when a round is finished, its grade, game, language and score. These counts carry no names, no email, no account and no device ID, so they can't be connected to you, your child or your device. They're stored with Supabase, only added up, and never shared, sold or used for advertising. No third-party analytics service is used.
MathPop Plus (optional)
MathPop Plus is an optional subscription for grown-ups, bought through Apple in the iPhone app. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or Apple ID. To share Plus across your family's devices, the purchase is tagged with your family account, checked with Apple, and saved to your account: which plan it is and until when. If you delete your family account, this goes too.
Family accounts (optional)
A family account is meant to be created by a grown-up. If you create one, MathPop stores:
- your email address and password, used only to sign you in, confirm your email and reset your password;
- your players' names (first names or nicknames are fine) and the grade each one plays at.
Progress, scores and settings stay on the device (apart from the anonymous counts above). Account data is stored with Supabase, which hosts it for us; we don't sell it, share it or use it for advertising. The same family account also works in PitchPop, another app by the same maker.
Handwriting
When you write an answer with your finger, the numbers are read by a small model that runs entirely on your device. Your drawing is never uploaded or saved.
Speech and sounds
The voice that reads problems aloud is generated on your device. In the iPhone app, everything it needs is built in, and the Explore Numbers voices in other languages use the speech voices already on your iPhone. On the website, the voice files are downloaded the first time from public file hosts (Hugging Face and jsDelivr), which, like any website, can see your IP address when your browser downloads from them. Nothing you type or write is sent to them.
Children
MathPop is made for kids to use, ideally with a parent or teacher nearby. Kids don't need to enter any personal information to play. Family accounts are meant to be created and managed by a parent or guardian.
Deleting your data
To delete a family account and everything stored with it, sign in and choose Account → Delete account, or email us at the address below. Everything else MathPop saves is on your device: delete the MathPop app, or clear the website's data in your browser settings, and it's gone.
